Air Force Common Admission Test AFCAT-2016 Complete Notification

Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted for granting the services in Flying Branch and Permanent/Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty Branches.
The candidates who clear the AFCAT exam will be called for the SSB (Services Selection Board) Testing, and they will undergo medical fitness tests (physical standards are given in the official website notification) and final shortlist will be prepared on this test.
Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) for the year 2016 will be conducted by Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday, February 21, 2016.

Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT 2016:
For Flying Branch
Age limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2017 (born Between 02 January 1993 to 01 January 1997).
Graduates (minimum Three-year degree) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate in  all papers from a recognised university and passed Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level.
Or B.E /B.Tech degree (four year program) from a recognised university with minimum aggregate of 60% marks in all papers.

For Technical Branch (Aeronautical Engineer-Electronics)
Age limit: 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2017 (born Between 02 January 1991 to 01 January 1997).
Graduates (minimum Four-year degree) from a recognised university Or cleared sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India)
Or Aeronautical Society of India or graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies.

For Technical Branch (Aeronautical Engineer- Mechanical)
Graduates (with minimum four-year degree) from a recognised university
Or cleared sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies.

Air Force Common Admission Test AFCAT-2016 Syllabus and pattern
  • The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT-2016) will comprise of total 100 questions, each question carrying 3 Marks.
  • One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. (Negative marking).
  • Time duration to answer 100 questions will be two hours.

Air Force Common Admission Test Question paper comprises of following topics,

General Awareness
History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art,Culture,Current Affairs, Politics etc.
Verbal Ability in English
Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary.
Numerical Ability
Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest.
Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test– Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

AFCAT-2016 How to apply

  • Go to the official website candidate login page by clicking here www.careerairforce.nic.in
  • Click on the ‘New candidate’ link and provide all the valid details.
  • AFCAT Online application consists of total five parts.
  • At the Final part the candidates have to upload all the scanned images of photograph, signature and thumb impression.
  • After the successful submission the candidate should retain the username and password of future reference.

Selection process
Final selection of the candidate will be based on their performance in AFCAT & Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT-for technical candidates) Intelligence, Psychological, Group and Medical Test finally Interview conducted by Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs).
For flying branch the candidates have to appear for CPSS (Computerised Pilot Selection System) and Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT).
